...PRINTMAKING
The silly Tyrannosaurus and tilting stack of teacups to the right was themed - unsurprisingly - around the letter T. It is basically just a compilation of a bunch of things I think of when I think of the letter T.
In order to print the work, it first needed to be etched. It was etched into a zinc plate using the Intaglio technique.
Intaglio Technique: The 4 x 6 zinc plate is covered in a thin layer of wax into which the drawing is subsequently inscribed. The Etching process is accomplished by bathing the plate in a bath of acid: the acid eats away at the zinc plate, creating ink wells where the lines were drawn on the wax.

This was a really fun process, especially for someone who is interested in science.

This piece to the left was created using the same technique described above. It portrays the dome of the Cathedral-Basilica of Mary, Queen of the World, in Montreal QC.

These two pieces were inspired by a collage I made. The piece on the left is a pencil drawing, while the one on the right is a print made by etching with a knife into a plate made of acrylic.
